Photo Gifts for Dad That Aren't a Mug
Dads are famously hard to buy for, mostly because they buy themselves whatever they want and then say they do not need anything.
The gifts that land are the ones he would never buy for himself but will happily wear. Here are six that work.
1. His kids' faces, printed properly
The obvious one, and it works. One photo of the kids, prepared by hand and printed across the chest. Not a collage, not a slogan. Just the photo.
Use a recent one. Photos of the children as they are now age better than baby pictures, which start to feel like a different family after a few years.
2. Three photos, one shirt
If there are several kids, or one kid at several ages, three photos laid out together carry more of the story than one. We arrange them by hand around whatever pictures you actually have rather than forcing them into a template.
3. His own dad
The one people do not think of. A photo of his father, from before you were born if you can find one, printed on a shirt. It is the gift that produces the long pause.
Old photographs usually work better than people expect. Send us the scan and we will tell you honestly what we can do with it.
4. The dog
If he talks about the dog more than the children, buy the dog shirt. You already know whether this applies.
5. The kid's drawing of him
A child's drawing of dad, printed exactly as drawn, wobbles and all. It costs the same as everything else here and gets the strongest reaction of anything we print.
6. A matching pair
The same design on his shirt and a child's. Works best for younger kids who still find matching with dad exciting rather than mortifying.
Getting the size right without asking
Asking ruins the surprise, so do this instead: go and look at a shirt he already wears and likes, and read the label.
Our garments are a relaxed unisex fit in sizes S to 2XL. If he is between sizes, or you genuinely cannot check, size up. Nobody has ever been upset that a sweatshirt was slightly roomy.
Timing
Every piece is made to order, so it is not an evening-before purchase. Allow 3 to 7 business days for us to prepare and print it, then 3 to 5 business days for standard delivery.
For Father's Day, order in the last week of May. For Christmas, order by December 5 with standard shipping, or December 10 with express.
If it goes wrong
Personalized items cannot be returned for a change of mind, because each one is printed for one person. But if the print is defective, the item arrives damaged, or the size or colour is wrong, we replace it or refund you in full within 30 days. You never pay return shipping when the fault is ours.
